The Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Lompoc, California is a low security facility housing male inmates. It is part of the Lompoc Federal Correctional Complex (FCC).

FCI Lompoc is located 175 miles northwest of Los Angeles, adjacent to Vandenberg Air Force Base.


A traveler may fly into Los Angeles (LAX) and catch a turbo-prop commuter for a 50-minute flight to the city of Santa Maria. Once in Santa Maria, the traveler may rent a car and follow the signs to Lompoc/Vandenberg Air Force by taking Highway 135 to Highway S-20 to the Santa Lucia Canyon Road exit. This road will take you directly to the facility and downtown hotels. While the commuter flight offers a beautiful view of the California central coast, often there is a 2 to 3 hour layover at LAX. Additionally, Santa Maria airport is often closed in the morning due to heavy fog conditions.
Renting a vehicle in Santa Barbara, the traveler should take Highway 101 North to the Lompoc/Vandenberg Air Force Base exit. This exit will connect you to Highway 1 which runs directly into the city of Lompoc. At the end of Highway 1, turn left on Ocean Avenue and drive through the end of town until you reach Floradale Avenue. Make a right on Floradale and follow the signs to the facility. The trip from Santa Barbara to Lompoc will take between 50 and 60 minutes. A traveler may drive to Lompoc from LAX by taking freeways 405 North to 101 North to Highway 1 North. However, this route will take you through some of the heaviest traffic around Los Angeles and the trip will take 3 to 4 hours depending on the time of day.

Local Transportation
City of Lompoc Transit (COLT) provides public transit service within Lompoc, Mission Hills, and Vandenberg Village. Service is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. COLT does not operate on Sundays or on legal holidays (New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day). Curb-to-curb service is available for seniors and persons with disabilities, call 736-7666 to schedule a pick up. Children under 6 years of age may travel free when accompanied by a fare paying passenger 14 years old and older. Escorts for persons with disabilities travel free.

Judicial District: Central California

Lompoc FCI Federal inmates are authorized four hours of visiting per month. Visiting hours for Lompoc FCI are 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Saturday, Sunday, and Federal Holidays. Wardens can restrict the length of visits, or the number of people who can visit at once, to avoid visiting room overcrowding due to safety and security; the FCI Warden is authorized by the BOP to restrict or cancel visiting for cases of severe weather or other incidents that will impact normal operations at facility.
